Former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh passed away. He breathed his last at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi at 9:51 pm local time on Thursday. He was 92 years old at the time of his death.

According to a report by news agency PTI, he was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital in Delhi. The reason for his hospitalization was not immediately known. However, it is known from various sources that he was admitted to the hospital due to respiratory problems.

Earlier in 2009, Manmohan Singh’s successful coronary bypass surgery was completed at AIIMS, Delhi. During the epidemic in 2021, he was hospitalized for a few days after being infected with coronavirus.

Manmohan Singh first joined the Ministry of Commerce of the Government of India in 1971 as Economic Adviser. Later he served as Finance Minister of India from 1991 to 1996. In 2014, he was elected as the 14th Prime Minister of India.

He served as a member of the Rajya Sabha until the beginning of this year. He retired from the Rajya Sabha last April.
